The Characters of La bohème

Mimì (soprano) – a seamstress who’s in love with Rodolfo. Performed by Raquel González, making her Opera Colorado debut.

Musetta (soprano) – a singer who’s in love with Marcello. Performed by Kathryn Lewek, making her Opera Colorado debut.

Rodolfo (tenor) – a poet who’s in love with Mimì. Performed by Zach Borichevsky, making his Opera Colorado debut.

Marcello (baritone) – a painter who’s in love with Musetta. Performed by Timothy Combine, returning to Opera Colorado after performing in Lucia di Lammermoor (Enrique) in 2017.

Colline (bass) – a thinker. Performed by Matthew Burns, making his Opera Colorado debut.

Schaunard (bass) – a musician. Performed by Alex Granito, a 2024-25 Artist in Residence.

The Plot of La bohème

La bohème — Act One

It’s Christmas Eve and Marcello and Rodolfo are attempting to work of their freezing-cold loft. Out of desperation, they determine to burn one among Rodolfo’s manuscripts to maintain heat. Colline and Schaunard be a part of their roommates within the loft. Schaunard brings meals and wine, equipped by his newest job, however the group determine to reserve it for the times forward and as an alternative go to the Latin Quarter for Christmas dinner. They’re interrupted when Benoit, their landlord, comes to gather the hire. The group is fast to give you a scheme as they get Benoit drunk, get him to inform of his marital infidelity, and throw him out with mock indignation. The group arrives on the café and orders dinner. As they eat, Marcello’s former sweetheart, Musetta, enters on the arm of a rich admirer, Alcindoro. Bored of her suitor and nonetheless in love with Marcello, Musetta vies for her ex’s consideration, ultimately reuniting with Marcello. The group escapes by the group, leaving Alcindoro to pay their invoice.

La bohème — Act Three

A few months later, Mimì seeks out Marcello for some recommendation. She is nervous about Rodolfo’s incessant jealousy and wonders if they need to half methods. As Marcello comforts Mimì, Rodolfo seems and Mimì hides to hearken to their dialog. Rodolfo tells Marcello of his plan to go away Mimì due to her flirtations with different individuals. Spring has come and Rodolfo and Mimì have separated. Rodolfo, Marcello, Colline, and Schaunard are collectively within the loft, making an attempt to neglect about Mimì and Musetta.
