One which was a girl

Over the previous ten days, totally on Fb and quite a few French web sites, I’ve learn many transferring posts in an immense outpouring of grief in response to the dying of this beloved younger singer. Many colleagues who labored with Devos have written movingly of their affection for the girl and of their respect for the artist who had been performing till only recently.

She made a number of well-received solo recordings for Alpha Classics together with one in every of coloratura showpieces by Offenbach. The one Devos CD that I personal is the smashing Alexis Kissenko recording of the unique model of Rameau‘s Zoroastre by which the soprano portrays the heroine Amélite.

For his remaining season with the Cincinnati Symphony, Louis Langrée, who can also be musical director of Paris’s Opéra-Comique, led two semi-staged performances of the Ambroise Thomas work in Music Corridor with Devos and Stéphane Degout heading the solid.
