How Music Bought Free is coming quickly to Paramount+.
The 2-part documentary, from exec producers Eminem and LeBron James, will debut June 11 within the U.S. and Canada on Paramount+ and the next day within the U.Ok., Australia, Latin America, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
The sequence, which premiered at SXSW earlier this 12 months, “particulars the fascinating, and sometimes humorous, inside story of the technology-driven disruption that modified music through the late-’90s and early-2000s. File sharing expertise, mixed with the insatiable demand for brand spanking new music, created each the means and the motive for tens of millions of younger folks to take part in outright theft — and be celebrated for it.”
Alexandria Stapleton (Reggie) directs the doc, which is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Tv, James’ SpringHill banner, Interscope Movies and Shady Movies.
How Music Bought Free options interviews with the likes of Eminem, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Jimmy Iovine, Rocsi Diaz, Rhymefest and Steve Stoute, amongst others.
“As a filmmaker, I wished to problem the slender lens of who we regard as tech innovators,” Stapleton mentioned. “How Music Bought Free is a narrative that proves good minds may be present in unlikely locations, like the agricultural, forgotten manufacturing facility city of Shelby, North Carolina.”
Stapleton exec produces alongside Stoute and Stephen Witt, with Marshall “Eminem” Mathers and Paul Rosenberg for Shady Movies; James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson and Philip Byron for SpringHill; Bridgette Theriault, Dan Sacks and James Chapman for Warner Bros. Unscripted Tv/Telepictures; Steve Berman, John Janick and Anthony Seyler for Interscope movies; and Bruce Gillmer and Michael Maniaci for MTV Leisure Studios.
